In 1981, Cassuis Paxton moved with his family to the San Gabriel Valley. In this video he describes some simple actions we can all take to begin to overcome bias.
[Interviewer] So today what can we do to make this place better?
[Cassuis Paxton] To overcome bias? I would suggest work on that. Go visit a church. Go visit a black restaurant. Go to a park. Have seminars. Talk to people. You’ve got black neighbors somewhere in your neighborhood—go meet them! You’ve got Chinese neighbors. You’ve got all kinds, you’ve got Muslims. Go meet them. Say hello. And I do, to strangers all up and down. ‘Hello. Hello! Hi.’ And I feel better for doing it. And believe it or not, I get some great reactions too.
